You choose a length and start a defined reading session. The timer gives the session a clear beginning and end, helping you make a deliberate pocket of time for the book.

Deep Focus is an optional mode that can use iOS Screen Time controls to block selected apps, app categories, and websites while you read. You choose what gets blocked.

The reading companion uses the book you are reading and your current reading position as its source material. Its answers are grounded in that context, so it can explain passages, connect ideas, and recap what you have read while pointing you back to supporting excerpts. Embedding and retrieval happen on-device, and full book content is never sent to the cloud.
